Puto Filipino Recipes

Ingredients

 

4 cups Flour
2 cups Sugar
2 tbsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 cup Water
400 ml  Evaporated Milk or Fresh Whole Milk
2 tbsp. Vanilla Extract
1 tbsp. Melted Butter
(optional) Food Coloring
(optional) Cheese (grated or sliced thinly for toppings)

Puto

 

  1. Put all dry ingredients together and mix well.
     

  2. Add the milk and blend, then add the water, melted butter, vanilla and food coloring if used and blend well.
     

  3. Spray your puto molds with non-stick or lightly brush them with butter. You can also insert paper molds instead.
     

  4. Pour the puto batter into the molds until ¾ full.
     

  5. Steam for 10-15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
     

  6. If you want to top with cheese, now would be the moment to make a small cut on top of the puto, to stick your cheese inbetween.
     

  7. Let your puto cool down.
